An awful lot has changed in the last couple of years, but for many small businesses, one thing that hasn’t is their website.
This has almost become my mantra now, but it’s true: websites are still one of the most efficient ways to build your commercial advantage.
If you’ve started this year with the best intentions to overhaul your website but don’t know where to start, here’s a tip to help you on your way.
Before you start asking the tough questions about what your business needs, give these a try:
Get feedback from someone you trust. It’s hard to be objective about our own website, so get a constructive critique from friends or industry colleagues who know their stuff and will be honest.
Check out the competition. We’re often so busy looking in, we forget to look out. Pick the 3 competitors you fear/respect/envy most and see what they’re up to online.
Look at your website statistics. Blow the cobwebs off your analytics tool and see who’s using your website and what they’re doing.
Do one of these today and I guarantee you’ll emerge with some insights that will set your website project on the right path and some extra energy to take a few steps forward.
Happy New Year, and good luck!
