What do you do if the person who built your website has moved to New Zealand?
I appreciate the chances of it actually being New Zealand are quite slim (even though I’ve heard it’s lovely), it might be Finland or Canada. It may just be they’ve swopped web development for a new career as a chef and now they work all night, sleep all day and you simply can’t get hold of them for love nor money.
Whatever it is, they’re not only gone, but they’ve also taken knowledge (and sometimes logins) with them.
Your website should be driving your commercial advantage, but what happens when no one’s got the keys?
Here are the usual options:
ℹ Recruit or upskill an employee
👨💼 Find another one man band
🏢 Speak to a big specialist agency
Unfortunately, they all have costs and risks attached.
A better solution is an agency that’s used to stepping into the breach. My team and I have been building and managing websites for 25 years, so unless the new sous chef at ‘Wellington’s Beef’ built your site in Visual Basic, we can usually start work straight away.
Some potential clients assume a mid-sized agency wouldn’t be up for a mini-sized job. But we see the potential for long term relationships, so no job is too small.
